Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar | Movie Review

Love – an inexplicable desire to belong and the need to partake in the euphoric sensations that one is subjected to experience with the object of affection. It’s like listening to a beautiful symphony (a concoction of harmonious notes) that strikes the right chord with the listeners making them go through a series of intoxicated pleasurable emotions. It’s a world on its own where everything is pure bliss, orgasmic, and right because it’s mercurial and fluid. One can’t restrain love for it’s meant to flow!

Fortunate are the ones who find the true love of their lives, however, the beauty of unrequited love is unmatched. Life is incomplete if there is no familiarity, especially where one has not lived and vanquished the unsurmountable expressions that are a by-product of this heady fusion. The pain of one-sided love is intense and can seem daunting at times. More so when you realize that you’re skeptical, have fallen out of love and now need assistance to come out of that relationship. Purging is important and that’s when we resort to confiding our secrets with our closest confidants. What if there’s no one to help you to come out of that zone? What do you do? Well, you seek refuge in a trusted, experienced professional consultant – a ‘breakup artist’ to end the relationship gracefully.

Welcome to the world of Rohan ‘Mickey’ Arora who hails from an affluent Delhi Punjabi family and runs a side business of a successful breakup consultant whose suave demeanor makes him indisputably desirable. Could I just go ahead and coin a term for this piece of gorgeousness? ‘’Dream Boat” that’s what Ranbir is, made for the movies, the poster boy for romance and love. A director’s actor, who exudes charisma and finesse in every frame. He’s like clay that can be molded into any shape. An artist whose craft converges with the character effortlessly. It’s a treat when you have this dream boat ‘Mickey’ falling head over heels in love with this pretty damsel, ‘Tinni’ a character that’s beautifully essayed by Shraddha. Their chemistry is palpable, subtly explored, and depicted on screen. The screenplay and characterization is spot on with a dash of equanimity and drama. Tinni depicts today’s modern independent working woman who abides by her choices and free will. She believes in living life on her own terms and is a decision-maker who doesn’t get easily influenced by others.

Our friends and family play a vital role in shaping who we are, and our lives would be incomplete without them. In the movie, Anubhav Singh Bassi (Dabbas) plays Mickey’s best friend and go-to person. His fantastic debut performance is not to be missed, particularly when he delivers those flawlessly executed monologues with his signature poker face. It’s ironic when Tinni decides to end her relationship with Mickey through Ranbir’s consultancy, making the transition in the storyline seamless thanks to excellent writing. The audience is made to go through a juggernaut of emotions, experiencing the on-screen couple’s journey from the early stages of flirting, to the gripping monologues, and finally to heartbreak. The film’s ability to evoke a range of emotions is a testament to its compelling storytelling.

Luv Ranjan and his team (actors, musicians, lyricist, choreographers, etc.) have once again dished out a captivating romantic comedy that upholds his reputation as a filmmaker & producer. In fact, this film takes things to the next level with an incredible ensemble cast, strong supporting characters, memorable songs, and standout performances that make it a must-see movie.

Why does Tinni want to end this relationship? Will Mickey let Tinni go? What is the reason for their estrangement? Is Mickey & Tinni’s outlook toward life the same? Is there hope for this estranged love? Well, if these questions intrigue you then you might want to go to the nearest cinema to watch this movie. I loved it and would definitely recommend it to everyone!
