Gustaakh Ishq | Movie Review

Love is an emotion too intricate to describe and too vast to be summed up in a few words. It is an imperceptible thread weaving its quiet way through destiny, memory, and desire, stirring a deep-seated longing that transcends all possession, softening at last into grace and surrender. It is a slow, luminous fire that lingers and refines one’s being, making life radiant and unguarded in its wild abandon.

The movie Gustaakh Ishq unfolds as a poetic ode, a luminous paean that moves in tender synchrony with rhythmic divinity, where the beauty of longing pulses and shimmers in a translucent haze through every frame, each moment echoing the very essence of life, carried through music, moving images, words, and the quiet, timeless  eloquence of Urdu language.

A masterclass in performances (with stalwart of impeccable talent Naseer Saab), screenplay, diction, and poetic sensibility (guided by Gulzar Saab, a master blessed with an erudite Urdu vocabulary), and shaped by the brilliant clarity of the director’s vision, the film transports the viewer into a quaint realm of solitude, simplicity, and 90s romance. It invites one to encounter the rawness, freshness, of old-world love, (its alluring and ineffable charm), embodying the quiet soliloquy of a heart awaiting union with its distant beloved.

Like a painting composed of moving collages, exquisitely rendered on celluloid, I found myself compelled (almost summoned) to pen a review and craft a thematic poem that breathes life into the heart of love in its purest form, untouched by noise or chaos. I cherished the movie deeply and would not have missed it for the world, for within resides the sheer brilliance of Urdu poetry, the timeless language of love and romance.

Heartfelt congratulations to the producer for placing such unwavering conviction in the script and bringing it to celluloid with remarkable finesse. Congratulations to the director, cast, and crew for delivering a film of great artistry and poetic resonance. Gustaakh Ishq is a must-watch; if you haven’t experienced it yet, then do catch it at a theatre near you.
