Mother – it’s difficult to sum up a personality and define who or what a mother is. Words fall short in her praise. She’s a giver, a pillar of indestructible faith, the eternal pacifier, an epitome of unconditional love and grace. A harbinger of good omen, nurturer for life, the reason for our existence. One experiences sheer bliss in her arms for it feels like a safe haven, devoid of any fears. Her beauty is unmatched and shines of amaranthine elegance. There’s an inexplicable thread of emotions that connects a mother with her child, like an irreplaceable eternal bond sealed forever; untarnished in comparison to the myriad relationships that one is exposed to in life.
She is a woman who embodies compassion illuminating her child’s world, just like a lantern that supports us/glows in darkness. Rip her heart apart and you will find unflinching courage to fight the demons of society (patriarchy, lies, betrayal) that inflict pain on her children. The movie Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway beautifully encapsulates the essence of a mother’s love for her children and the endless harangue of painful events that a mother goes through to win her children’s custody back from the Norwegian authorities. This movie needs no introduction for its inspired by the true story of Sagarika Chakraborty.
I won’t delve into the intricacies of this film for one must watch it to experience the phenomenal performance of Rani Mukherjee. I could only see a mother, Mrs. Debika Chatterjee on screen and only Rani could have essayed this character with such finesse. She brought a mother’s pain to life that it resonated and how! Also, Jim Sarbh with his stellar performance stole the show.
Kudos to the entire team for helming and bringing such a brilliant story to life. I loved the movie and I would definitely recommend it!
