It’s difficult to ascertain the extant of spiritual realms and their dimensions that’s home to majestic supernatural beings with infallible powers, for they can only be empirically validated by siddhas who have graced our planet in the past and who nonchalantly continue to cohabitate with us even now.
India, the land of Gods is a store house of monumental knowledge, adventures and scriptures (Veda, Purana, and Upanishads – orally transmitted teachings) enabling one to pursue the uncharted shores of divinity that are imbued with chaos. Only a seeker with an unappeasable thirst for the supreme, when comes in close proximity and under the tutelage of a true Guru (enlightened one) awakens to his true form and purpose in life.
The movie Brahmastra revolves around Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) the main protagonist, the protectors of the spiritual weapon Brahmastra (Amitabh Bachchan also the Guru, Shahrukh Khan and Nagarjuna) and the dark ominous energy wanting to reinstate its lost power by acquiring all the pieces of Brahmastra (whatchamacallit).
Shiva, the protagonist is an orphan who is a DJ by profession and is oblivious of the congenital ability that’s intrinsic to his nature. He is ordained with the ability to sense, perceive, and experience flashes of images that are concomitantly happening with people who are strangers to him and an unresolved quest – his relationship with fire that doesn’t burn him.
Driven by the curiosity and the images that engulf him, he takes the untrodden path to unravel the truth entailing a series of formidable and implausible adventures. Under the guidance of his true Guru, a character flawlessly sashayed by none other than the quintessential stalwart of our film fraternity Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Shiva awakens to his reality. That he is a vessel for divinity, a child of light and a possessor of grace! When this indomitable energy is invoked, harnessed and channelized with the power of the invincible under the impeccable direction obtained through the Guru, it has the potential to light up the entire realm and also be a catalyst for mass destruction.
The movie Brahmastra is inspired by Indian Mythology and very innocuously portrays the fictional story of Shiva, the chosen one. The narrative is smooth, intriguing, and lucid. It blends beautifully with the perfect pivotal characterization; performances so vivid that delightfully involves and compels the audience to partake in the world of characters that is forged with twists and turns. The cinematography is so picturesque, it opens a vista – mosaic of colors (VFX) that keeps the audience glued to their seats asking for more! Just like a cornucopia of assortments, the movie boasts of a stellar star cast with captivating performances. It is laced with the opulence of VFX which is the heart of the film.
Ranbir’s a phenomenal actor, a dreamboat, and I loved the chemistry between Ranbir and Alia. Ayan Mukherjee’s labor of love and vision has definitely paid off. It was a pleasure to see Shahrukh on screen after a long hiatus especially in the scene when his character emerges from the rooftop into the sky literally giving me goosebumps. Nagarjuna’s a talent par excellence. Kudos to the team of Brahmastra for bringing to life a spectacular story with utmost precision and execution. The VFX team has done a commendable job and they truly deserve all the accolades that the industry can possibly bestow on them. Can’t wait for Part Two!
