Poverty corrodes lives, subjecting individuals to abject paucity and fortified by poor living conditions where darkness becomes the way of life. These individuals are governed with minimal to zero access to basic human needs – food, clothing, and shelter, often foregoing education. They are looked upon with utter disdain by the upper echelons of society, trampled and demeaned into servitude by the powerful and the corrupt. People living on meager means below the poverty line seek emancipation for what is just and right.
Education is not a privilege but a benefit, a fundamental right of every individual. However, those on the lower rungs, burdened with other responsibilities, lack the funds to educate themselves. The growth of a nation is pivotal and can only be leveraged when the youth of a country are well-equipped to wield the power of education, establishing a solid footing on principles encompassing knowledge, experience, and wisdom.
The movie “12th Fail” beautifully encapsulates the importance of education and the challenges our youth face when appearing for UPSC examinations. Deeply entrenched in a myriad of unwarranted situations, the story walks us through the travails of our main protagonist, Manoj Kumar Sharma, flawlessly portrayed on screen by Vikrant Massey. The brilliance of the narrative lies in its lucid and vivid imagination, keeping it raw and earthy, weaving a seamless execution of alluring intelligence on screen.
It’s a poignant, inspiring story that speaks of triumph and revolves around the indefatigable, impermeable determination of the human spirit. It lauds the unflinching and unwavering exuberance of human strength, especially during times of adversity when it’s exposed under complete duress, emerging victorious through resilience and the power of unfettered fortitude.
The movie is a powerhouse of excellent cinema and storytelling. I take this opportunity to thank Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the entire team for believing in and bringing to life the frugalities of a common man’s life and the challenges they face on celluloid with great sensitivity and panache. This movie is a winner in every way! A must watch!
