Five Women – Rakesh Saraf

Patriarchy has in more ways than one always managed to subjugate women. It’s not that women aren’t privy to the fact that their emancipation lies in their ability to resurrect their thoughts and empower their beliefs. They have bravely fought the veil of misogyny time and again and have emerged victorious.

The book ‘Five Women’ written by Rakesh Saraf is a compilation of 5 different short stories each vindicating and justifying the actions of women who fight for their rights, dignity and freedom.

Each story is specially curated and written keeping the protagonist in mind who is encumbered by a series of oppressive challenges that not only assail her but how painstakingly she rises to the occasion by taking her power back.

The author has done a commendable job of bringing to fore such a sensitive and a thought provoking topic. The sheer brilliance of the narrative calls for an immersive reading.

I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it!
