Hunting the Invisible – Valmiki BK

The mysterious ways of the unknown have always captivated the human mind since ages. It’s a peculiar feeling one experiences when exposed to the chasm of an expansive space festooned with impenetrable darkness that reeks of death. The cool wind gently caressing towering trees as they wait patiently in the wake of a lonesome night only to envelope their prey with mighty branches that makes one hallucinate the unimaginable.

As intriguing and alluring the secrets of the darkness may seem to be; the creatures of the unknown set a perfect trap to ensnarl their victim, and if, one gets embroiled in its uncanny and unobtrusive ways, the paranormal will slowly but surely devour its target leading to series of unavoidable events.

Welcome to Gandharva Kota, also known as Godfort, a quaint little village safely cocooned by a generous dollop of nature caught unawares in a web of inexplicable happenings sending the entire village scurrying for Ramabrahman’s cover. Ramabrahman is a revered priest with unmatched wisdom who along with the other meticulously crafted characters like Thawhorne, Mahabali and Arthur are engaged to fight the onslaught of a demonic wraith the sole reason behind all the convoluted deaths in the village.

The lucid narrative is well-structured and flows seamlessly. The prose gradually unveils to reveal a story that’s made to go through twists and turns like a labyrinth that calls for an immersive reading experience. I enjoyed reading this interesting piece of fiction however, the writing style could have been more descriptive and vivid to make the reader explore and experience the tryst and the angst of the characters more intimately.

What will be the fate of this beautiful village? Will the unquenchable desire of the wraith be put to rest? What will be the fate of the characters? Will they survive the scheming madness of the antagonist who wields power over the wraith? Well, if these questions capture your interest you might want to read this one!
