Life Unknown – Kartikeya Ladha

It’s always a herculean task to put the essence of life into words. Anything that lives, nurtures a desire for growth and is exposed to go through a series of inexplicable emotions by the simulation of illusion that’s profound, unfathomable & beyond our control is life; I guess.

In this travesty of life, there comes a point when we’re forced to ruminate over circumstances and situations that have transpired in our lives evoking bitter sweet memories. Memories that usurp & challenge us to question our beliefs and impertinence. They flash like a mirage where one is forced to reckon & accept the profundity of nature. This knowledge creates an awareness of how vulnerable and insignificant one is against the might & power of the cosmos.

A similar feeling stirred the dormant emotions within the author that made him quit his swanky job & lifestyle in USA to follow the path of calling. When in India, he travelled up North to Ladakh, Dharamshala & finally down South. The author brilliantly captures the crux of society and begrudges the values & systems that the society expects one to adhere too. He questions the deplorable situation and the influence of capitalism on our lives and how as consumers we are fleeced and made to believe in a charade that is just a façade to enmesh us in a web of lies.

The narrative is smooth, riveting and structured beautifully. Vivid and pictorial descriptions of travels immediately transports one to experience the joy, pain and anguish with the author. The story unfolds in ways that’s unimaginable. What I really liked about the book was how the author slowly unveils his vulnerability & makes you a part of his life and journey.

If you’re a non-conformist and like to challenge and question the redundant rules laid down by the society and one who harbors a dream of living the dream then this book is for you.
